MPV.net is a more user-friendly version of MPV that has a UI for editing the config file.

MPV.net is my go-to for video, foobar2000 is my first choice for a music player if you like a great balance of speed and versatility, or xmplay if speed is your top priority, while still having decent options for features in the form of addons. I guess I just miss win 7 and win XP because I didn't have random issues before moving to win 10. Anyway sorry for the rant, just felt cheated and thinking of moving to Linux but seems like there's a learning curve so that'll take some time. I'm kind of done with windows at this point, with them releasing win 11 when they said win 10 was supposed to be the final version. So, I figured I have to get something useable for playing media on win 10 today. The video is able to be played but it lagged for a good few minutes on both windows media player and the old MPC. I'm not sure what went wrong this time but I went to find the codec for windows media player and somewhat fixed the issue. I was using Films and TV, so that's probably the issue. Actually, I don't know anything about most of the ones listed nowadays.īackground/rant: I was just going on my day when suddenly it's not possible to play. In the case of audio player, I'm thinking audacious or foobar2000 but I don't know anything about them. I'm interested with pot player and mpv but there's not too many mentions of them (why?) I think I prefer MPC-HC over MPC-BE based on the specs, discussions and articles I've read. Saw that VLC and MPC-HC are still being compared for videos. I've been researching a bit on what's new and it seems like there's a lot of opinions on what's good but I figured it's best to ask for myself. Currently, I am alternating between windows media player and groove music when I need to listen to a playlist, etc and when I just want a better sound quality (but I really don't like groove.). I tried VLC a few times before but the playback wasn't really nice on my previous pcs. I used to and still like windows media player (don't kill me), and MPC-HC (it was fast on my previous pcs). The rest are just my opinion on what I've read so far and background story to this post.

I'm not trying to edit anything (using other software for that), I just want something that loads fast enough, has good playback, is relatively lightweight and have the option to change video viewing speed. I'm wondering if there's a fast, lightweight and versatile media player (or a combination of two) for playing audio and video on win 10.
